According to the report of the Meteorological Department, the thunderstorm has turned into a cyclone. The storm is moving towards Andhra and Orissa with increasing strength. Meanwhile, Kolkata has also received rain since the beginning of this week, i.e. from Monday. According to the report, the rest of West Bengal, namely East Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia districts will receive heavy rainfall.

The meteorological department also said that if the amount of rain in South Bengal increases, the amount of rain in North Bengal may also increase. Besides, there is a possibility of light or moderate thunderstorm and rain in the districts of North Bengal next Wednesday and light rain is expected in all other parts of the state, the meteorological department said. According to the report, light or moderate rain with thunderstorm is expected in Medinipur, North and South 24 Parganas today.

Besides, wind speed of 40-50 kmph is expected in 3 coastal districts. And so the government has issued a warning to coastal people and banned them from going to sea. Even those who have now gone for sea travel have been ordered to return. The amount of showers and rainfall is expected to increase in Gangetic districts of West Bengal from today. In Kolkata, there may be heavy thunderstorms and rain on Thursday and Friday.

The word ashani means anger. This is named after the speed of the storm. Due to the effect of this storm, sultry and cloudy weather prevailed in Kolkata and the rest of the region since morning.
