Ruma Devi was born in 1976 in a very poor house. His father’s name was Khetaram and his mother’s name was Imrani. Ruma’s mother passed away when he was 5 years old. Rumara was the brother and sister of whom Ruma was the eldest. Her father then got married for the second time after which Ruma started growing up with her uncle. Ruma had to face water shortage wherever she lived with her uncle.

Then he would fetch water from a distance of 10 km. Then, at the age of 18, her uncle married Rumara to Tikaram, the son of Mangal Beri village. Her husband works as a colleague in a drug free organization in Jodhpur. And they have a son named Laksh. So from an early age he had to face poverty as well as child marriage and many more serious problems. However, he did not let his dreams die as he got married at a young age.

He wrote his own destiny and achieved success today. And he has proved that there is a way if you want. Ruma, Rajasthani handicrafts such as sari, chadar, kurta etc. can be made very well. The demand for his garments is not only in the country but also abroad. Today, she employs more than 22,000 women in the districts of Barmer, Jasper and Bikaner on the Indo-Pakistan border.

The garments made by this woman are exported to places like London, Singapore, Germany. Her garments are also on display at Fashion Week. But these were not so easy. After much hard work he was able to reach this place. The struggle of Ruma Devi and her work is truly admirable.
